It’s Sunday and it’s cold and raining. I hate days like this, especially a weekend day. I’m finally over all the sinus troubles and I sure hope this nasty weather doesn’t throw me back into more of the same. I’m keeping my rear in all day.

I’ve got some stew beef in the crock pot and we’ll have a nice bowl of beef stew for dinner. That should run away the damp dreary feeling a day like this causes. I hope it will anyway. Right now there’s just the beef and some onions in the crock pot with water of course but I always add a couple of beef bouillon cubes to the water. When the meats almost done, I’ll fill it full of potatoes, carrots and a little celery just for flavor. Then I’ll put a packet or two of brown gravy mix in it just to thicken it up a bit and add a little more flavor to it.

When you thicken it a little, you can put it in a bowl for stew or you can put it on a layer of noodles or rice. That’s the way I like it. Best of all, I’m not having to stand over it all day and watch it. I do love this crock pot.

Well my roommates and I didn’t do anything special for New Years except to watch Dick Clark and the ball drop. We didn’t have any money left to do anything more but you what, we had a blast together anyway. it’s not been that great of a year other than Obama getting elected. Boy do I hope he can keep most of his campaign promises. I can’t wait to watch him go. I just know he’s going to be the change our country has needed for a long time.

I got to play with my new video camera Mom got me for Christmas. I got some funny video’s of us acting like a bunch of teen age girls being silly and dancing around the room to the music on TV. Hey, we’re not too old to still act like a bunch of teen age girls ya know. Anyway this video camera is just too cool. It’s one of those new Kodak Ki6 cameras that you can easily upload video’s onto YouTube. I just might put this one on there. My room mates would KILL me.

Anyway, from all of us to all of you, Very Happy New Year!!! We wish you health, love and MONEY!!! That’s what we’re hoping for.

I told you about all the antibiotics and even getting the pro-biotics hoping it would help my stomach a little. Well I finally went to a gastrologist to see what the heck was going on. It was getting to be that just about every night or else in the morning, I would get sick and throw up. What confused me was that in the morning, there was still food from dinner the night before. It should have been long gone.

Well it seems that part of my stomach is paralyzed. Why? Well as I complained about the designers wanting everyone to be skinny so they could wear their clothes, I have a confession to make. I’m bulimic. I have fallen into the trap of wanting to be skinny so I can look as good in these clothes as the models do. Because of being bulimic, I have caused my stomach to become paralyzed. Isn’t that wonderful.

Now I have to find a pharmacy in Canada because the medication I will have to take can’t be purchased here in America. Imagine that. Obama has promised to do something about insurance and hopefully he’ll do something about that very thing. Why should the best medication I need not be available here and yet it is in Canada. Thank God it’s not expensive because my health insurance won’t pay for medications I get from Canada.

The average fashion model is too skinny to be healthy. I don’t understand why so many young girls are duped into trying to be exactly like the fashion models they see in fashion magazines. I don’t even look at fashion magazines most of the time. (OK, if I’m thinking about a new hairdo, I’ll look through them for hairdo ideas.) But I don’t look at them for ideas on what “beauty” is. I’ve heard (and read) that some fashion models actually have their lower ribs surgically removed so that their waists will look slimmer! I find that hard to believe, but I do have to wonder if there is any truth to it!

I think that the fashion industry is doing the entire world a huge disservice by insisting that their models always be so tall and thin. The vast majority of the world is NOT that tall and thin, and the fashions designed for tall and thin people don’t look good on the average body. If the fashion world wants to sell more clothes, they should be designing for the average body!

Our Christmas tree came out great considering we only used what we had around here. I found some lace I had forgotten I had along with some ribbon and glitter. I also had some liquid starch so I folded the lace into fans, put them in the starch with a clothes pin on one end of it, sprinkled some glitter on it and when it was dry, put lace around where the clothes pin had it kept together. They turned out really nice. I made about a dozen or more.

The Christmas party at work went great too. All of the trays were a huge hit. In fact, there was just enough that there was a small amount left on each one. That means I did good!!! Well all three of us in our home wish nothing but the most very Merry Christmas to everyone and may God bless you all.

Today I went to the local grocery store and ordered the party trays for the office Christmas party. I was quite impressed by the large variety of trays that I can have made to order from their deli! I’m going to be ordering a lot of different trays to get some variety out there. A tray of assorted chicken, a tray of pinwheel sandwiches, a tray of cheese and fruit, a tray of assorted sandwich meat and cheese, and of course the standard trays of veggies and dip, and fruit and dip. And of course a tray of shrimp cocktail - my favorite!

And I bought several bottles of sparkling apple cider and an assortment of soda and fruit juices to drink. One of my favorite drinks is to take some cran-grape or cran-raspberry cocktail and mix it half and half with ginger ale - very tasty! And of course, several pies as well - pecan, pumpkin, and apple! I’m really looking forward to the office party! We are going to have plenty of good food to eat!

My aunt called me a couple of days ago and asked me to try to find something that she can’t seem to find anymore where she lives. She wants to buy some colored popcorn to pop and string popcorn for her tree. She said that she really liked having the unpopped part of the kernel of the corn to be lots of different colors for her tree - she said that made it a lot more festive. She also said that after Christmas they would put the strings of popcorn outside on the trees in the yard and let the birds eat it. I’ll bet they loved that!

She said that she used to do that many years ago, and this year she wanted to do it with her kids. She’s been going to all of her local grocery stores and can’t find it anywhere. I remember seeing it in the stores many years ago, too, but haven’t looked for it in a long time. Until now, and we can’t find it either! I wonder why they stopped stocking it/

This year, he opted for a $50 gift card to a local grocery store. That was a great idea I thought. If he had just handed us $50 it wouldn’t have been as thoughtful, or that’s my opinion anyway. At least this way, it’s a bit like Scrooge and he’s supplying out Christmas dinner but our boss is no Scrooge. He’s a pretty darn good boss and is doing everything he can to keep us all in jobs until we get past this economic mess.

My mother went through her Christmas decorations and gave us a couple strings of lights she had. That was a big help with our tree. My room mates mother went through there’s and gave us some of their old plain bulbs they had. We added some things from around the house to make them our own. I drizzled glue on them and put glitter on them. They came out really pretty.

The others took plastic wrap and put little flowers in it around the bulb and then took a blow dryer and made it shrink to the bulb. It held the little flowers onto the bulb really good too. They were some tiny dried flowers that were in an old vase we had. They look much better on the ornaments. All in all, the tree is looking pretty good. Just needs some more glittery things to catch the lights on the tree. We’ll come up with something I’m sure.
