My friend the computer Geek!!

A good friend of mine got me started writing this blog. He found the web host I needed and everything else to get this thing up and running. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be blogging at all. He’s a computer Geek and I am always needing him to fix something on my computer that I seem to mess up. He’s not the only ‘Geek’ I have found to depend on. Like I said, I didn’t know anything about all of this but I have learned a great deal from a blog about web hosts and things like that.

I had absolutely no idea just what a dedicated server was and if it hadn’t been for my friend and that blog, I still wouldn’t have any idea what it was. Please don’t ask me to explain it to you because I can’t. I don’t know all of the technical words but you can learn a great deal just like I did from checking the blog out and also checking out their web site. They do all of the work for you by checking out which ones are the best and which ones are the best price. I hate spending more money than I have to and in this day in time, saving money is a necessity but so is quality for your money.

A friend of mine has been a smoker since high school. She’s tried to quit several but has only been able to ’stop’ for awhile. In fact, she stopped for 7 months once and could kick her own rear for starting back up. She is concerned about her health because after all, we all know the horror stories of smoking. I just don’t want to see that happen to her at all. She has a couple of young children and a husband that loves her so she needs to be around for a long time yet.

She found something that just might work for her this time. It’s an electric cigarette. They look and feel like a regular cigarette but way less harmful to you than a traditional tobacco cigarette. There’s no tar, and carcinogens like there are with tobacco cigarettes. Yes you still get the nicotine but you are also inhaling a clean water vapor that even looks and feels like a tobacco cigarette. Oh and you can actually ’smoke’ them in non-smoking restaurants and public places because they’re not really ’smoking’. If she must smoke, I would much rather see her with these than a tobacco cigarette and the price is cheaper now too so she’s not only helping her health, but also saving some of her hard earned money too.

A good friend of mine works in a factory and to be completely honest, I have no idea just what the heck he does. I do know that they use a lot of solvents of some type. He was telling me that they had gotten in a new piece of machinery that is a solvent recovery system. What this machinery does is allow them to save a lot of money with solvent recovery so they more or less are able to recycle the solvents they use. Pretty cool huh? Saving money means the prices can be lower as they trickle down to us.

He knows I big on recycling and that’s why he was telling me about it. He said they call it a waste recovery system to help them with recycling their waste. I wish more factories were aware of this product and would use them. We just product far too much waste in our country and I think it’s wonderful that companies like this are now making products like this to try and help our world out. If more places offered products like these, the air would be cleaner, the water would be less polluted and our Mother Earth would be a lot healthier.

WHY SHOULD YOU NOT BE TEXTING ON YOUR CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING?

To a company, marketing is so very important to getting their product or service known to the public. Marketing comes in many different shapes and sizes now. It’s not just advertising like it used to be in news papers and on TV. With the Internet comes a whole new phase of Industrial Marketing.

Blogs are now being used for advertising purposes and because of things like that, marketing has come a long way. If you check out this web site, you will be amazed at what is possible now, or I was anyway. They can actually track what marketing things work and what don’t right online. Cousin in the military told me about this

I have a cousin in the Marine Corps and he was telling me about the new military handset they are using now. Man is the technology really making a huge difference for them. I have always believed that the military should have the best of the best since they are there to protect our country and this lightweight handset is perfect for them.

The last thing they need is something bulky or heavy to deal with when they’re having to deal with possible enemy fire. These tactical handset don’t get in their way and allow them easier access to back-up or support when they need it the most. That means a lot.

One of the best parts is they now have tactical wireless headset. If you have ever watched an old war movie with the box on the radio guys back and the wire that was attached to a hand held microphone they had to walk into. Well thank goodness, those days are all over.

I’m thinking of getting a ‘mini-laptop’

All of a sudden it seems that everyway I turn I’m seeing these ‘mini-netbooks’ everywhere. You go out on your lunch break and if there’s wi-fi available, people are pulling these little computers out of their purses or perhaps a breifcase but there they sit, working on whatever on their lunch break. Well I decided to check into one for myself so I might be able to blog whenever and where ever I please.

Here’s the one I think I’ll get and a little about what they (PC World) has to say about it:

Despite its “mini” status, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 houses some big-boy features. Among them are a (relatively) roomy 10.2-inch, 1024-by-600-resolution display and a 5400-rpm, 160GB platter-based hard-disk drive — the largest hard drive we’ve seen on a netbook yet.

Though the S10 has the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU and 1GB of RAM as most other mini-laptops we’ve tested, it outperforms them all. The IdeaPad S10 earned a score of 41 on our WorldBench 6 benchmark tests; it’s not a speed demon by any means, but consider that the nearest competitor equipped with the same guts received a mark of just 37.

If you’re looking for a big, beefy hard drive and surprisingly sprightly performance from a mini-notebook, the IdeaPad S10 is a solid pick.
