It’s a shame that so many people are trying so very hard to make things right for us and yet it seems nothing is totally working………..well not yet anyway. I agree that it’s time to balance the budget and I sure wish I knew more so that I could fully understand what it would take to do just that. Maybe some new blood would really make a difference in DC. After all, that’s why we all elected this president, looking for new blood in DC.

One of my cousins sent this to me in an email today and it really made me stop and think. I thought it might you too so I wanted to share it with you.

EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.
Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

545 PEOPLE

By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash.

The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party.

She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want.. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red .

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ, it’s because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way..

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess! Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

Did it make you think half as much as it made me think. Maybe we do need a lot of new blood in Washington DC for a change. Maybe it’s time that the life time politician is no more. Maybe there should be term limits on each office just as there is in the presidency and limits for how long anyone can serve period. I think it’s something to think about personally.

Here yet is something someone sent me that I found very interesting and wanted to share. We face such tough economic times that everyone seems to be trying to ‘fix’ but to what cost to the country? You might find this as interesting as I did.

Though Dr. Rogers said it in 1984, his words are so relevant to what we are facing in America today. In fact, it was even read and posted in the Congressional Record by Congressman Steve King from the state of Iowa on January 14, 2009.

Dr. Rogers is quoted:

“Friend, you cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. And what one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government can’t give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody. And when half of the people get the idea they don’t have to work because the other half’s going to take care of them, and when the other half get the idea it does no good to work because some body’s going to get what I work for. That, dear friend, is about the end of any nation.”

He has also ordered that all secret prisons that the CIA has all over the world be closed. Oh he also made everyone that was a part of his staff to take an oath and sigh a paper saying they will give full disclosure of their dealings. That’s good because there’s just too much secrecy in Washington. Ronald Reagan was the last honest man up there I believe and I’m sure he wasn’t totally honest but he was more honest than most.

Beyonce did a great job of singing Etta James song ‘At last’. It’s a beautiful song and so appropriate for the occasion too. Etta James would have been proud of the way Beyonce performed her song. It was so touching to see Beyonce cry when she was interviewed after the song. What a great honor for her to sing the first song the President and First Lady danced to.

That’s what our new President does. She said that he makes her want to be smarter and get involved. That’s a wonderful thing in itself. In fact, they were at an elementary school interviewing some of the kids that were watching the inauguration and all dressed up for their on ball. These children said that our new President made them believe that they could do anything they worked hard for and set their mind to do. What a wonderful gift he has already given our country. I do expect great things from this man.

There was a very long parade for the President and his family and the Vice-President and his family too. I don’t mean to leave Joe Biden out of this history making event. Anyway, since the President grew up in Hawaii, there were several marching bands from Hawaii. They told in the coverage of the parade that they practiced in an ice rink to try and get used to the cold they would encounter here. I wonder if it worked?

I was so proud to see the people of the Crow Nation and 10 other Indian tribes represented too. I missed seeing the others I am ashamed to say. That’s what America is. It’s not White, Black, Yellow, and Red. It’s people of all color that are Americans PERIOD. I think that the President shouldn’t be referred to as an African-American man. He’s a MAN. If we stop referring to people by their background or heritage, sexual preference, or religion, then we will see people as simply PEOPLE!!! But what do I know? I’m just a voice of one with an opinion that may not be the same as anyone else’s.

I bet more people watched the inauguration today than any other ever in history. Why? Because history was made right before our eyes. It’s official now. We welcome President Barack Obama and First Lady Michele Obama along with their two adorable daughters, Malia and Sasha, to the White House. I hope I spelled his daughters names right and beg your forgiveness if I didn’t. I think both of them are beautiful names.

I only wish that Dr. Martin Luthor King Jr. could have seen this moment. It’s a crying shame that his wife passed away before seeing her husbands dream fulfilled too. But I’m sure Dr. Kings children were there. This event gave them a first hand look at what their father died fighting for. It was not a senseless death either. All men are created equal and now that sounds even more real to me. I was honored to watch history in the making today.

Well my roommates and I didn’t do anything special for New Years except to watch Dick Clark and the ball drop. We didn’t have any money left to do anything more but you what, we had a blast together anyway. it’s not been that great of a year other than Obama getting elected. Boy do I hope he can keep most of his campaign promises. I can’t wait to watch him go. I just know he’s going to be the change our country has needed for a long time.

I got to play with my new video camera Mom got me for Christmas. I got some funny video’s of us acting like a bunch of teen age girls being silly and dancing around the room to the music on TV. Hey, we’re not too old to still act like a bunch of teen age girls ya know. Anyway this video camera is just too cool. It’s one of those new Kodak Ki6 cameras that you can easily upload video’s onto YouTube. I just might put this one on there. My room mates would KILL me.

Anyway, from all of us to all of you, Very Happy New Year!!! We wish you health, love and MONEY!!! That’s what we’re hoping for.

I told you about all the antibiotics and even getting the pro-biotics hoping it would help my stomach a little. Well I finally went to a gastrologist to see what the heck was going on. It was getting to be that just about every night or else in the morning, I would get sick and throw up. What confused me was that in the morning, there was still food from dinner the night before. It should have been long gone.

Well it seems that part of my stomach is paralyzed. Why? Well as I complained about the designers wanting everyone to be skinny so they could wear their clothes, I have a confession to make. I’m bulimic. I have fallen into the trap of wanting to be skinny so I can look as good in these clothes as the models do. Because of being bulimic, I have caused my stomach to become paralyzed. Isn’t that wonderful.

Now I have to find a pharmacy in Canada because the medication I will have to take can’t be purchased here in America. Imagine that. Obama has promised to do something about insurance and hopefully he’ll do something about that very thing. Why should the best medication I need not be available here and yet it is in Canada. Thank God it’s not expensive because my health insurance won’t pay for medications I get from Canada.
