Is it just me or what?

Have you ever noticed how once you have been with a guy for quite a while, all of a sudden he doesn’t talk to you as much as he did when your relationship was new and doesn’t seem to hear anything you say? I know it’s not a hearing problem because he hears what everyone else says. I think it’s more of a ‘listening’ problem.
Men have selective hearing. Well women do to I have to admit but why is that? Someone once told me a ‘fable’ I guess you would call it. The scenario is there is a married couple that invites over another couple. They are all sitting in the living room talking when the invited lady spills her drink all over the coffee table. The husband that lives in the house politely says ‘That’s okay, don’t worry about. I’ll go get a towel and help clean up the mess.’
A couple days later, this same husband and his wife are sitting in the living room and his wife spills her drink on the same coffee table. The husband turns to her and says ‘What the hell is your problem? Just look at the mess you made. Don’t you have any better sense than to spill a drink all over the place and ruin the stuff on the coffee table and possibly the coffee table itself?’
Now this is supposed to be the woman he loves and wants to spend the rest of his life with but he treated the guest in his home much better than he did his own wife. Shouldn’t it have been the other way around? That’s what scares me about getting married because it’s not a ‘fable’ unfortunately. It’s all too true sometimes.
