Flu shots for pregnant women protects babies

I was reading on the US News and World Report website today that if a pregnant woman gets a flu shot in her third trimester that the flu shot helps to protect her newborn baby from catching the flu.  The story was talking about how deadly it is for babies under the age of six months to catch flu.  The article mentioned that the CDC has been recommending for the past eleven years that pregnant women get a flu shot – I did not know that!  I guess since I haven’t been pregnant I just wasn’t paying that close attention to what is good or not good for pregnant ladies and their babies lately!
